The 2018 Paul Fowler Invitational Platform Tennis Tournament will be played on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Play will be throughout the day at 14 different clubs across Fairfield County. Details below...
One-day event on Saturday March 3, 2018. Seven simultaneous Tournaments, one for each League Division.
Draw is strictly limited to 16 teams per Division. The format is designed to provide all participants a minimum of three (3) matches.
Both players must be from the same club. Players must register for the appropriate Tournament (Divisions 1 to 7) based on the Division you played in most frequently this season. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to adjust a team's division of play based on tournament response and player ability.
APTA rules apply. Best 2 of 3 sets. Standard tiebreak at 6 all. For the first two rounds only, if you split sets, the winner will be determined by playing a “Super tiebreaker” in lieu of a third set – first to win 10 points, must win by 2 points.
Various FCPTL Clubs. All of your morning matches will be played at one club location. You will be contacted regarding which club to report to.
Play begins: 8:00 AM for Divisions 1-3 and 8:30 AM for Divisions 4-7. Lunch: 12:00-1:45. Party & Finals: from 2:15 PM.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of all four draws and finalists in the Main Draw. Eligible afternoon players are reminded to stop at the Wee Burn Country Club after their match to pick up their prizes.
LUNCH & AWARDS PRESENTATION
12:00- 1:45 PM at Wee Burn Country Club. Announcement of Final Division Standings and presentation of Divisional Pennants will take place at 1:00 PM.
Starts at 2:15 PM at Wee Burn. Divisions 3-7 Main Draw Finals at 2:15 PM; Division 1-2 at 2:45 PM. Friends & Family are encouraged to attend.
$170 per two-man team.
Each Team Captain will nominate two doubles teams from their squad. Captains should send the names, e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers of their nominees to their FCPTL Division Manager by January 25th, and simultaneously have their nominees register on the FCPTL website. Nominated teams will have until February 1st to register. After that, registration is open to any team that plays in that Division on a first come, first served basis.
ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS
Only one player per team needs to complete the on-line registration. They will pay the full fee and collect half from their partner. To register on line, go to our web site: www.FCPTL.com. Look on the vertical menu on the left-hand side of the homepage and click on the words, "Tournament Registration" - you will be directed to the Tournament Registration page.
Cancellations are strongly discouraged. Any registration canceled before February 15th will be refunded ONLY if a wait-listed team can be added to the tournament. REFUNDS FOR CANCELLATIONS AFTER FEBRUARY 15th WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE FCPTL BOARD.
8:00 AM - First match for Divisions 1-3. 8:30 AM First match for Divisions 4-7. You will play three matches at a single venue assigned to your Division.
12:00 PM - Lunch buffet begins at Wee Burn Country Club.
1:00 PM - Awards presentation for Division Winners
2:15 PM - Backdraw finals for all Divisions begin at various locations.
2:15 PM - Main Draw Finals for Divisions 3 to 7 and Finals Party for all at Wee Burn.
2:45 PM – Main Draw Finals for Divisions 1 and 2 at Wee Burn.
Everyone will play 3 matches at a single venue before lunch. If you win your third match, you will have a fourth match in the afternoon.
